Respiratory Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: The Respiratory supervisor plans, directs, organizes, leads, and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Respiratory Department. He/She develops and implements policies and procedures which are consistent with TJC, OSHA, CLIA, state and local requirements, oversees blood gas lab and provides in-service for staff to include safety and quality assurance, works with the Administration to develop long range planning, budgeting, staffing, contributes and participates in all committees, as well as the management of employees and payroll for the respiratory department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license by the State Board of Respiratory Care Examiner
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in respiratory care, preferably in a LTACH
- Requires effective management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical: Walking - up to 40% Standing - up to 55% Kneeling -up to 1%
Sitting - up to 5% Pushing - up to 4% Bending - up to 2%
Squatting -up to 1% Pulling - up to 30% Reaching - up to 30%
Lifting - up to 30lbs Wrist/Finger Movements - up to 90%
Mental: Stress Level: Moderate to high
EXPOSURE RISK: Category I - Jobs in which required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate measures is required for every healthcare provider in these jobs.
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, MACHINES USED: Various oxygen equipment, artificial airways (i.e., tracheotomy tubes, endotracheal tubes), invasive as well as non-invasive ventilator equipment, suction equipment, precursors, electrocardiographic machine, pulse oximetry equipment and supplies, blood gas and other chemistry analyzers, crash carts, other miscellaneous medical equipment, telephone, facsimile machine, copier, printers, computers and other office machines, as appropriate.
CERTIFICATIONS: CRT or RRT, BLS certification, ACLS certification
